With Interdimensional Extinction, Blood Incantation laid the blueprint for their twisty cosmic death metal sound, which they developed on later releases without ever straying too far. You can hear their snaking, Morbid Angel style of riffing on opening track, ‘The Vth Tablet (Of Enuma Elis)’, as well as in the sonic onslaught of ‘Obfuscating the Linear Threshold’. Doom-laden riffs paired with soaring guitar leads make frequent appearances, such as on the opening track and ‘Hovering Lifeless’, both of which give the songs a grander feel in keeping with the “death metal in space” theme. Several of the tracks also make effective use of samples and atmospheric passages to provide a nice counterbalance to the heavier sections and to help with the overall pacing of the EP.
